Availability of Mumps Vaccine

The manufacturers of the mumps vaccine in the USA have issued a release stating that all orders of the mumps vaccine will now be put on back order and will not be available until April 2009 at the earliest. Unfortunately they have not stated a reason for doing this. We would like to re-iterate that they have not stopped producing the vaccine altogether. We only envisage this as a temporary supply problem and we are sorry for any inconvenience caused.

This information means that if you are starting the course of single vaccines with us at this time, you will have to wait a little longer for the mumps vaccine than normal. We understand this situation is frustrating, however the situation is completely out of our hands. Unfortunately all single vaccine clinics will be affected by this. Although there are other strains of the mumps vaccine available around the world, the Jeryl Lynn strain is the only strain considered to be safe for use in this country.
